What I meant is there are not many people who get drunk on 3 units of alcohol (I think that's roughly the current limit). Whereas a "drunk" driver, someone who is 3 or 4 times the limit, is obviously a considerable risk on the roads. And those people won't change their behaviour just because the limit changes.

What about people who have only consumed food with a little alcohol in it? If someone was prosecuted for having say 1mg in their system (I think the current limit is 35) personally I think that would be ridiculous. Fined and put off the roads for eating a sherry trifle?

Reduce it by half maybe but not zero in my opinion.

Not sure, but I would be surprised if eating a sherry trifle and driving would put you over any limit because the body processes alcohol at a given rate therefore removing it from the system. The comparatively minute amount in a trifle would be cleared very quickly. Mind you if you went to the flicks and ate half a pound of wine gums and drove straight afterwards, you could be touble!!
