Re: Le Noury. Nara
do you think the island is heading for its deepest recession since the
war.if it is what do you think should or could be done to prevent us
feeling the worst effects of it.

Re: Le Noury. Nara
My manifesto seems to have lost it's self, it could be anywhere in this universe, maybe in the custody of the information police,
undergoing extreme torture
It's my fault, it was hand written and scanned to email. So I shall rewrite it in the box of acceptance.
Nara's Manifesto copied from the hand written paper that was sent to the guernsey press and why guernsey by email,
with a few alterations.
My aims are to make sure everyone has adequate finances to cover their basic needs for living.
This would mean, for a starting point, doubling the present £8250 single personal allowance before paying any income tax.
The only tax would be the social insurance contributions.
I believe everyone should be able to to choose what they do with there hard earned cash.
I believe most of our public services should be run by professional business people to make them more efficient and more
accountable therefore removing the burden from the tax payer.
Whatever tax we put on finance should be the same on all other businesses kept competitive and adjusted accordingly.
If extra money is needed for our services and with more money in my pocket from less income tax I personally would
not mind paying a sales tax which we could fluctuate between zero and whatever was needed at the time.
We have to take care of our parents in retirement and would like to see their pensions grow to a more realistic sum,so that
they can keep their independence.
I do think we have enough laws. The only people that gain are the lawyers "Please bring your prices more in line with reality"
Our Island is in a mess. We have a vast amount of abandoned glass houses, this land could be put to better use.
Perhaps in starting cottage industries building or including affordable housing for more people. With sensitivity and imagination
and fairly cheaply.Eco friendly, for instance farmed wood with waste paper insulation example 4 bed house ready made kit
around £60,000 plus labour cost to put it together on stilts. Just one possibility plus keeping any land price out of the equation
apart from rent or similar for the owner. So as to hold down speculation land would not be sold.
We could maybe surrender part of our coast to new exciting imaginative buildings for the young and old for more
entertainment to stop our young being so angry and disillusioned they need younger things to do which old people seem to
forget. More public transport would help why not trams,or cable cars incorporating safer cycling and walk ways.
we have 70,000 or so people all individuals with different needs and we must endeavour to meet these needs and not just
cater for the chosen few.
As the wealth flows in we could think of more outlandish (literally! projects.Building piers, roads to nowhere out to sea
where liners could moor up, people could fish in comfort.Build on them using the sea for power.Move the airport away from residential area runway out to sea encourage sea planes bigger yachts etc.
These are just some of the things I would like to see happening in guernsey. We can try and hold on to the past but like it or not change is happening, we have to evolve and with the wealth that we have we can be a great example to the rest of the world, we can choose forward, backward or stay as we are, it is up to all of us.I do believe that with sensitivity and imagination
plenty of investment and willingness for change we can have exciting times ahead.
These are my thoughts and I will leave it to you to decide at the ballot box........ Thank you......
