Alderney's big gamble

Residents in Alderney are being asked if they'd like to see casinos built in the island.

A consultation's underway into a whole raft of ways to boost the island's economy.

One of the recommendations is to investigate the feasibility and viability of casino licensing.

Suggestions that casinos being built in Alderney have surfaced before, but this time it is one of 36 formal ideas from the government's Policy and Finance Committee.

The top priority in the shopping list of economy-boosters is to create an economic steering group.

You have until the end of this month to have your say before politicians look at the feedback.
