Jobs to go at Flybe

Post by GD on Wed 23 Jan 2013, 8:10 pm

There's more bad news for the islands today as 24 staff are to go at Flybe.

The airline announced this morning that it plans to cut costs but its current routes won't change.

The Exeter-based carrier plans to cut around 10% of its UK workforce.

This is the latest gloom for the island's shrinking economy.

Flybeís Chief Executive Jim French said, "It is a matter of great regret that many valued and hard-working colleagues may leave the organisation, particularly in the Channel Islands where Flybe has been a mainstay of the local economy for three decades, and it was a decision I and the Board have not taken lightly ; itís one we have tried to avoid and it is the first time in almost 30 years of business that we have had to take such action."

......THE BOSS......

"Always be yourself because the people who mind don't matter, and the people who matter don't mind"

.............and so it continues :-(

It is the same over here - every week people are being 'let go' yet the powers that be say how good the Australian economy is!!! guess it is a case of which side of the fence you are standing.....soon the only work force will be the 'un-sackable' Civil Servants - but without the other workers to put into the pension pot how will their gold plated pensions be funded? HoHum!!!!

The difference is:Aurigny can afford to lose money(no REAL shareholders)

Flybe cannot as it is accountable to its shareholders.Unlike the States who appear to be accountable to no one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
