Lifeboat crew called to Alderney harbour

Post by Dell on Sun 25 Nov 2012, 1:29 pm

Alderney's RNLI boarding boat launched at 11.45pm last night (Saturday), at the request of the French coastguard agency, to help a lone Belgian yachtswoman, and her ship's cat, increasingly worried for the security of her 10-metre yacht Neptune moored in Braye Harbour.

In severe gale force weather conditions, with westerly winds gusting up to 50 knots, four volunteer RNLI crew members manned the boarding boat to go alongside the visiting yacht and secure additional mooring lines.
