Alderney's States withdraws social housing plan

Post by GD on Thu 24 May 2012, 6:30 pm

A plan to build social housing has been withdrawn by Alderney's Building and Development Control Committee.

About 200 people signed a petition against the development, with a number stating they felt the proposed site at Platte Saline was unsuitable.

Geoffrey Sargent, chairman of the committee, described the withdrawal as "democracy at work".

A meeting will be held on 11 June to review the application and discuss the opposition to it.
