St Brelade's beach scoops top award

Post by GD on Wed 07 Mar 2012, 7:29 pm

Jersey's St. Brelade beach has come runner-up in the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Beach Destinations awards.

The travel website today announced the top ten best British beaches.

St. Brelade was named second best beach destination, while Dorset's Bournemouth took the top spot.

David de Carteret, Jersey Tourism & Marketing Director, said: "Jersey is surrounded by beautiful beaches and St Brelade is considered by many to be the island's most outstanding. It faces south and is washed clean twice a day by a tidal system which has one of the largest ranges in the world."

Unlike other honours, winners are based on millions of reviews and opinions from travellers around the world.

"These awards recognise the UK's best beach destinations, according to those that really matter - travellers themselves," commented Emma Shaw, TripAdvisor spokesperson.

"The UK is home to many miles of gorgeous coastline and St. Brelade's inclusion in the list shows just how much travellers enjoy it."
