Jersey's Bailiff has announced details of its plans for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

There will be a special church service, a cavalcade of classic vehicles, a race meeting and a food festival.

There will also be a special concert at Fort Regent which will be relayed to a big screen at the food festival in Les Jardins de la Mer, St Helier.

A special 100 Jersey note and a commemorative stamp will both be issued on Thursday 31 May.

There will also be a Diamond Jubilee exhibition running for six weeks, showing images and memorabilia from Her Majesty's six visits to the island.

Jersey will also light one of 2,012 jubilee beacons to be lit across the UK and Crown Dependencies, followed by a firework display at Elizabeth Castle.

On Sunday 3 June, Jersey's first motorised lifeboat, the Howard D, will take part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant
The Bailiff, Michael Birt, said he was delighted to announce the island's official arrangements "to celebrate the very special 60-year reign of Her Majesty the Queen".

He added: "I very much hope that islanders will feel able fully to support and participate in the programme of events, most of which will be free of charge."

Mr Birt added: "As a Crown Dependency, the island can celebrate this historic occasion and re-affirm its loyalty to the Crown through its affection for the Queen."
