Brothers rescued from stricken dinghy

Post by GD on Wed 04 Jan 2012, 8:14 pm

Two brothers had to be rescued from a dinghy yesterday afternoon off the coast of St Sampson's in Guernsey.

Ambulance crews were called to Route du Picquerel at 3.15pm yesterday to help the boys, who are both aged 12.

The dinghy was around 50 feet from the shoreline.

While it was tied up, and not adrift, the high winds and rough seas meant it had filled with water and the boys were not able to get it back to the shore.

The Inshore Rescue Boat was launched.

The Rescue Boat crew lifted the boys off their dinghy and took them back to the shore where their mother was waiting.

Despite being wet, cold and a little frightened, neither boy was injured and after being warmed up they were both taken home.

The boys were lucky could of been a sad ending....
