Hedley on election campaign

Post by GD on Thu 18 Aug 2011, 6:01 pm

Hedley Le Maistre has come out of retirement for one gig only, in order to encourage more islanders to vote in this year's October elections.

The song and film campaign is aimed at reminding islanders to register and vote this October in what is Jersey's first general election (bar six Senators who are not up for election).

The video shows satirical singer songwriter Hedley going back to school to learn about the importance of voting.

Hedley said: "“We hope the film will serve as an entertaining reminder of the importance of Islanders’ right to vote. As well as being a great film, it also contains a lot of information about the voting process in the Island, including how to register to vote, how to cast your vote, how to vote in town before election day, and how to vote by post if you are going to be out of the Island.”

This year’s elections are on 19 October. Islanders have until noon on 5 September to register.
