New uniforms for high schools

Post by GD on Tue 28 Jun 2011, 4:50 pm

PUPILS at Guernsey’s high schools will in future have to wear blazers, shirts and ties.

The Education Department announced the new policy this afternoon.

It wants the high schools, the secondary phase at St. Anne’s and Le Murier to adopt a more formal uniform to replace the existing polo shirt and sweatshirt option.

The department believes that different uniforms create a divide between the colleges, Grammar School and high schools.

All schools are now considering how best to introduce their chosen version of the new uniform and will be consulting students and parents about the details. (from GEP)

Great Idea...

More cost for the parents too. The only people who will not feel it are the wealthy and the poor, the middle income families will be hit again.

more drivel from education, what difference does it make to the childs learning, wether they wear a sweatshirt or a blazer! yes its going to mean way more cost to parents, not to mention, lost tie`s etc and also more rules to expel the children for, no tie, lost tie, tie not tied correctly etc etc etc , sweatshirts and polo`s have been working fine, if it isnt broken then do not fix it!

maybe there could be some uniformity in the colour of trousers /skirts that should be worn but i think the polo shirts and sweatshirts are fine. as schoolyjo has said the uniform doesnt make any difference to
the pupils learning capabilities x
