General Election in April 2012

Post by GD on Wed 18 May 2011, 4:55 pm

Guernsey's next General Election will take place on 18 April next year.

The date will be formally approved by the States in either July or September this year.

Candidates will be allowed to spend up to £1,600 of their own money on their campaign, with the government subsidising around £300 to cover the cost of printing manifestos. (from CTV)

I will only be voting for those in my parish who bother to find out what the parish needs and wants..and i know who comes into a parish meeting.

still think we should have some form of island wide voting..an example of the unfairness of the present system is that some one who came near to last in his parish is now cheif minister..where is this fair..i just hope the people have taken note of what has been promised and not been done by the present motley crew .kingcole maybe you should be worrying about your own governments inadequacies and not about who will throw their hat in the ring in guernsey..i am sure steve 177 couldnt make a worse mess than the muppets who are presently in power x

OK then, let him prove it. It is very easy to shout the odds from the sidelines. Remember those that can, do; those that can't, critisize.

I have no worries about our present Government, only about the drastic action being required to salvage the wreckage of yet another Labour mess.

I agree Kat...I vote for who does best for my parish - I am disapointed island wide voting is not happening as there are some in other parishes whom should not be in the states....I have to say Matt Fallaize is great and I am sure he will do very well again.

Well - all I can say is 'I have changed the country I live in - but the probs with government are the same as Guernsey but on a larger scale' surrender1
(maybe the breed of people who govern should be phased out - and let anarchy rule - I once read that anyone who puts themselves forward as a candidate to govern should be struck off of the list permanently lol! )

You are so wrong Thistle, but this is a Guernsey site about Guernsey and not the place to enlighten you about UK politics.
