Blue Islands drops its support for Alderney

Post by GD on Sat 26 Feb 2011, 6:01 pm

HEALTHSPAN will pull its financial support for Alderney tourism this year after it claimed the refusal of a new Southampton route had made the venture unviable.
But Aurigny, the only airline operating the UK link, said the move was an unfair reaction to an extra route that would not have worked.
Blue Islands parent company, Healthspan, planned to offer low fares to passengers and boost the islandís economy in return for permission to compete with Aurigny.
But following the refusal, Healthspan chairman Derek Coates said his investment in island tourism will no longer see a return. (from GEP)

Well 'DelBoy' tried to buy up Alderney - in about the same way has the 'B' Bros have tried to do with Sark!!! the Seaview used to be a lovely (if rather quaint) Hotel and now it is a posh Hotel that does not even feel welcoming on a tiny Holiday Island ......shame but there it is and now he will do to Alderney what the aforementioned B Bros did to Sark! It never was about being good for the people of Alderney................... Rant
