Knicker-shocker! Nearly two million Britons are wearing 10-year-old underwear.

Nobody likes to air their dirty laundry in public but when it comes to recycling ones undies it seems some of us are better than others.According to a brief study published yesterday an astonishing 1.7 million Britons still wear pants they bought more than 10 years ago.
Almost a quarter of those admitted wearing the offending items over 250 times before finally buying new ones.

Half of all respondents admitted to often wearing mis-matched lingerie and one in six said their underwear had holes in them
And when it comes to the sexes men, it seems, are not as squeaky clean as they would have us believe.
More than a quarter admitted wearing the same smalls for two days running - without washing - compared to just seven per cent of women.
A further 14 per cent of men and three per cent of women admitted wearing the same drawers for three days or longer.
Not only is it a passion killer but startling laboratory tests detected bacteria on 83 per cent of all tested underwear samples over a year old.
In some cases, they even discovered E.coli.
The study, carried out by online shopping and price comparison site Kelkoo, examined the habits of 5,000 men and women in the UK.
From that they were able to estimate that 1.7 million Britons still wear underwear they have owned for more than 10 years, with more than a quarter (26 per cent) keeping them for five years or more.
The most popular reason given for hanging on to old briefs was comfort (68 per cent) whilst others were reluctant to part with them for 'sentimental reasons' (seven per cent).
Furthermore, half of all respondents admitted to often wearing mis-matched lingerie, while many also owned up to wearing pants that were either grey (18 per cent), full of holes (17 per cent), fraying (15 per cent), ill-fitting (13 per cent), or featured childish cartoon characters (9 per cent).
Almost a third of people interviewed (29 per cent) said they would be 'turned off' sleeping with a new partner as a result of unsightly undies.
As part of the study Hygiene Audit Systems were commissioned to conduct microbiology testing on freshly washed pant samples that were at least one year old.
The results showed that 83 per cent contained medium to high levels of total living bacteria including Enterobacteriacae, Staphylococcus aureus and even E.coli.
Joe Cross, Marketing Manager at Kelkoo, said: 'It seems that out of sight really is out of mind when it comes to the nationís underwear habits.
'However, this is one example of where it doesn't always pay to recycle.'
Dr Lisa Ackerley, Managing Director of Hygiene Audit Systems, said: 'The lab results give some cause for concern, with the levels and types of bacteria detected exposing the fact that lower temperature wash cycles simply don't do a good enough job.
'The testing also highlights the risks people take by washing their underwear with other household items such as tea towels.
'On a low temperature wash, doing so can easily result in cross contamination of bacterial nasties from pants to tea towels or kitchen cloths, which could then subsequently be transferred to items that come into contact with food, and could ultimately cause food poisoning.'

Now who would have thought that mixing your knickers with your t towels can give you food poisoning , well there is a thing ........lol

I throw mine against the wall when I take them off every night. If they stick, it is time for a clean pair.
