Elderly and disabled can view lights in comfort

Post by GD on Thu 25 Nov 2010, 1:01 pm

Elderly and disabled people in Guernsey will once again be able to see the Town Christmas lights in comfort.

The lights will be turned on on Sunday 5th December.

From that date until the the 5th of January, the Environment Department is allowing cars to drive through Smith Street, High Street, Le Pollet, Mill Street and Mansell Street on Sunday and Wednesday evenings between 6pm and 10pm.

Drivers must travel towards the direction of the Town Church when travelling along Le Pollet or the High Street and are being reminded the above roads are subject to a 12mph speed limit.

Environment say islanders won't need a permit from the Department for the route but are stressing permission is only open to vehicles carrying persons of pensionable age or disabled passengers. (from CTV)
