Wheelchair basketball boost for Jersey youth

Post by GD on Wed 10 Nov 2010, 11:05 pm

Youngsters across Jersey are to be introduced to wheelchair basketball next week in a bid to get more people taking part in the sport.
The Jersey Sports Association for the Disabled is aiming to get around 550 schoolchildren to try out the sport.
JSAD chairman Paul Patterson said: "There's been a tremendous take up by the local schools for able-bodied children to sit in a wheelchair.
"There's lots of support for people who are in wheelchairs as a consequence."
Programmes in wheelchair basketball are being run in schools across Jersey next week, from Monday 15 until Friday 19 November.
National wheelchair basketball coach Nick Jarvis, is leading the programme. (from BBC)
