Post by kiwis kitten on Sat 11 Jul 2009, 3:12 pm

Cabriz Bistro (formerly L'oras)

has opened under new management...

I believe it has a Portuguese theme to it ...

I have yet to go there.....

But would like to hear if anyone else has....

Its open 7 days a week for breakfast..lunch...dinner....

So...who has been??? :)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm went down for a shuftie yesterday - nothing 'new' and the veggie options are non-existent BooHoo (thought I was going to have a nice accommodating restaurant within walking distance) as someone on another site mentioned 'menu stuck in the 1980's but prices right up to date' Good luck to them anyway :)

We walked past last night.....

It was raining so we didn't hang around looking for too long..

I have to say i didn't think the prices were to "over the top" pretty average really....u pay far more for steaks in town bistro's.....

Time will tell if the foods up to scratch...i so hope so...we need a good restaurant down the North....

think i shall be trying it out soon :)

Had a meal there over the weekend, service good, food good, value good, the only complaint, which was minor was the bread was a little stale, but overall would recommend it

We had a lovely fifteen fest here this evening..

I had mushroom with crab and cheese to start..sounds naff but really was tasty....Hubby had deep fried Brie....

I can highly recommend the Portuguese Espetada..
(chunks of beef brought to u on a hanging skewer)

absolutely delicious....

with saute potatoes and veg/salad of ur choice......

Profiteroles with chocolate sauce for dessert......

Lots of rose wine......

followed by a baileys coffee.....

and a nice brisk walk home..lol

hmmm gym again soon

Mine wasn't too bad (nothing special - but you cannot really ruin a salad) it was the 'guest's' Seafood platter that was not nice to look at at all - and Razz had the Turf and Surf (not a good choice)...son went down last Saturday and swears he will never eat there again.....shame really cause they could have a good 'local' following - methinks they will have to try a bit harder....

I had great expectations when they opened - but when you take people and it's a hit and miss affair you lose confidence......I will give them another chance - but when I asked for mayo with my salad they bought it out of the kitchen in the bucket they make it in....not very professional! My son ordered Steak Diane and when it came it was plain steak so he asked for the Diane Sauce and they bought Tartare Sauce!!!! When he complained Tony said to him 'your mother was here a few weeks back and she had a good meal'!!!! he said and your point is????? by the time the Diane Sauce came it was in time for him to dip bread in!!! 100 times - must try harder LOL

I agree, this a a very up-and-down sort of place - unreliable. Food and service good in parts but not the place to go for a guaranteed good time. Last time I was there I had the Espetada. Considering this is more or less the national dish of Madeira/Portugal it was disappointingly bland, shame because the meat seemed good quality. Nice Rose though.

Yes that dish should be simple enough as it is only an oversized Kebab!!! My hubby's was one of those with steak and prawns....not cooked to perfection!!!
