Who is good enough for Health?

Post by GD on Wed 15 Apr 2009, 6:25 pm

Statement from the Chief Minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur on Wednesday 15 April 2009:

It is with regret that I have accepted the resignation of Senator Jim Perchard as Minister for Health and Social Services.

Senator Perchard has been an excellent Minister during his four months in office, and has imbued his Department with fresh enthusiasm and drive. He has shown tremendous personal commitment to all aspects of Health and Social Services, as evidenced by the list of activities he set out in his letter of resignation, received this morning.

I shall be formally announcing his resignation to the next sitting of the States on Tuesday 21 April, and putting forward my nomination for a new Minister, to the States, on Tuesday 28 April.

At this stage I have no further comment to make.

Who's next....

THREE politicians are officially in the running tomorrow to try to become the Island’s next Health Minister.

Deputy Collin Egré confirmed to the JEP this morning that he would be standing. He was intending to visit the chief executive of Health today to hear more about the service.

Deputy Paul Le Claire is also to stand against Deputy Anne Pryke – the preferred candidate of Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur.

Nominations for the vacant position of Health Minister are due to be announced in the States, when the House will then debate and vote for Senator Jim Perchard’s successor.

Deputy Anne Pryke is Jersey's new Health Minister.

She fought off four other candidates in two rounds of voting.

She takes over from Senator Jimmy Perchard who resigned after he was highly criticized for telling another member to go and commit suicide.

Let's hope she's strong enough to deal with Pollard's misogynistic bullying.

She needs good deputies and the two previous incumbents will not cut the mustard.

Still there's something pleasing about an ex nurse running health ... the arrogant bloated Jersey Hospital Consultants will be most upset with a mere handmaiden running the show.
