I see that the states have just purchased 2 aircraft at a cost of almost $40m just when things are getting a bit tight.

Is this just scaremongering by Deputy Parkinson? Tell us that we all need to pay an extra 1,100 per head in tax and after the public outcry announce a reduced figure of, say 400, so that we are 'led down the garden path' and convinced into believing that we have "saved" 700 when in reality we have had to pay out the 400?

A recent example of this tactic was the increased charges for mooring fees in St Peter Port Harbour, announce high additional charges initially then appear to withdraw and reduce the costs - but still charge you more overall!!

"Baldrick, I have a cunning plan..................." The whole mess smells of a Blackaddder farce, or am I just a cynic??

No not cynical Dell - just welcome to the real world of Guernsey Politicians - I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments!!! and as an aside - am I the only one who sick to death of seeing/hearing Peter Roffey's views on everything????? Mike Torode did it for a while, but thankfully (and unusually for him) he has gone silent - but now Peter appears to be the self appointed expert none of us need!!!!!

(got the feeling that should be in RANT - but too late now)

If anything, it is the other way around. Say that it is 1,100 per head, when in reality it is 2,500 per taxpayer.

It certainly is an emotive subject, it always is when the government or the state raises taxes.

As always it is the 'ordinary person' that will be affected - the tax paying, law abiding and hard working middle group of the community- as the unemployable will continue to get their benefit handouts and the rich can afford to pay!!

Im sure you dont need me to tell you but i will as youve asked

Many people in guernsey use that phrase when a non local complains so going on the same theory if people are unhappy and have complaints the saying can apply to a guernsey person.

There are boats and planes everyday

I think its suppose to be half humorous and half serious.
