Ministers ‘use bullying tactics’

Post by GD on Sun 08 Jun 2008, 12:53 am

MINISTERS are driving a wedge between themselves and the States by using bullying tactics and ridiculing anyone who disagrees with them, according to Deputy Gerard Baudains.

He has claimed that a ‘them and us’ attitude in the House is fuelling a divide in the States and that ministerial government is not working.

Deputy Baudains was roundly criticised by ministers for raising the issue of the multi-million-dollar lawsuit against Waterfront developers Harcourt during this week’s debate on the Esplanade Square plans.

Chief Minister Frank Walker had given States Members his ‘categorical assurance’ that there was no Las Vegas lawsuit – before apologising after the debate after being told that the suit had been filed.

Transport Minister Guy de Faye and Waterfront Enterprise Board director Jim Perchard also criticised Deputy Baudains for his claims, which were proved correct, but only after the Council of Ministers’ proposition had been approved (from thisisjersey)
