Deputy in bid to oust Bailiff
THE Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, is to face a vote of no confidence.
His role in the convicted paedophile Roger Holland affair, his Liberation Day speech and his role in the States are all under fire. In an unprecedented attack on the Island’s civic leader, the States are to be asked next month to request that the Queen remove him from office.
The move comes at a time when the Island’s establishment is already under fire. Next week the States are being asked to debate a vote of no confidence in the Council of Ministers and a vote of censure against Chief Minister Frank Walker over his handling of the recent debate on the Waterfront ‘masterplan’.
St Helier Deputy Shona Pitman has formally lodged the proposition, saying that it is about ‘inappropriate statements, actions and behaviour of an individual, the Island’s serving Bailiff, that have both brought his position into disrepute and significantly damaged the public’s confidence in its government as a result’ (from thisisjersey)
It will never work....

Re: Deputy in bid to oust Bailiff
Much as Id love to see him removed, and the role removed too, it just isn't going to happen. The Dep. must know this, so I question why she bothers at this time, in the run up to elections. If anything the Baliff will use the vote for him to claim that he, and his role is still wanted by the people.

As you said it's coming up to the elections, bound to be an election issue
