iPods at your service

Post by GD on Sat 22 Mar 2008, 11:52 am

A JERSEY rector is going digital. With an iPod, sound system and specially designed program on his laptop, the Rev Mark Bond, the Rector of St Brelade, is bringing church services right up to date.

Driven by the shortage of organists in the Island, Mr Bond uses his 80-gig iPod in services, downloading all the hymns from the church’s hymn CDs.

The idea creates a ‘heads-up, not heads-down’ service which the congregation enjoy, according to Mr Bond.

He thinks it is important to keep traditional services, but at the same time his new approach will mean that the Church can communicate better with its members and attract new people. When St Brelade is without an organist, as it often is, Mr Bond simply plugs in the iPod, complete with hymn book-style cover, to the church sound system and the hymns with full musical accompaniment are ready to go.

Gun and Roses here we go lol
