Gas from Guernsey's tip could supply enough power to light up 100 homes.
The States approved plans several years ago to produce electricity from landfill gas.
But then a hotspot was discovered inside Mont Cuet which had to be dealt with first.
Now the fire is out, gas extraction can begin.
