Church's silver altar cross taken
The cross from the main altar in Guernsey's Town Church has been stolen.
Police say it was taken between 1745 BST on Monday evening and 0930 BST on Tuesday morning from St Peter Port.
The cross is silver, with floral detailing containing the images of an eagle, a man, a bull and a lamb and is worth about £1,500.
Guernsey Police are investigating the theft and want to speak to anyone who may have seen the cross or has information about the theft.
Church warden, Ellis Bebb, said he was saddened by the news but said it would not change the way people can use the church (from BBC News)
How sad that even Church items are not safe...

Re: Church's silver altar cross taken
Isn't nothing safe anymore ? mind saying that i read somewhere the other day that in the UK thieves are even nicking manhole covers , old cars and door knockers down some streets as they are worth a fortune now that the price of scrap has rocketed.
As a side note don't the police have a CCTV camera right outside the church !
