Jersey Telecom could be privatised
Jersey Telecom could be privatised in two years.
Treasury Minister Senator Philip Ozouf has told the States he's committed to keeping the company in public ownership for the next 24 months.
He is carrying out a review of all telecoms companies in Jersey but refused to comment on the number of licences that have been granted by the competition regulator - or whether the regulator is doing its job well.
Grouville Constable Dan Murphy offered to establish a working party to review telecom licensing but his offer was knocked back by the Senator Ozouf, who then caused outrage by suggesting the Constable's family connections at JT would cause a conflict of interest.
Mr Murphy has a daughter who is employed by the company. (from CTV)
