Flybe Illegal licensing claims

Post by GD on Fri 25 Sep 2009, 1:33 pm

The airline Flybe claims the manner in which Guernsey's air route licensing regime is applied is illegal.

At a hearing yesterday, Flybe asked to have restrictions lifted on how many inter-island seats it can sell.

They say passengers would benefit from the increased competition through lower fares and more choice.

Rival airlines Aurigny and Blue Islands say there isn't enough capacity on the route to lift the restrictions.

Both companies aren't subject to the same controls.

But if Flybe's application is granted, Aurigny and Blue Islands say it would result in damage to their businesses and in the long run would be bad for the consumer. (from CTV)

Its about time there was some price competetion on inter island travel...
