Residents call for traffic calming in ‘nightmare’ road
RESIDENTS of Route de Farras in the Forest say speeding motorists have made the road a nightmare.
They were speaking after Lee Jehan, 30, was taken to hospital with a fractured left leg on Sunday night.
His Kawasaki Ninja 600 motorbike collided with a black Kia Sportage at the road’s junction with Les Nouettes.
He landed in the middle of the road about 50 yards from the point of impact. His condition was yesterday described as stable. The couple travelling in the Kia escaped without injury.
People living nearby said the accident had been one of several in the last few years.
Donna Saunders, 41, said the road needed traffic-calming measures.
The motorcyclist had lain opposite her house, which is at the bottom of a dip in the road, about 50 yards from the junction.
‘It’s a nightmare coming out of the lane. You have to be very careful. People come zooming down here so quickly. I don’t know how I haven’t been hit pulling out,’ she said. ‘I don’t think even a filter would work.’
Miss Saunders added that her 13-year-old daughter, Jamie-Lee Weysom, rode a horse and had to come out of the lane or use a gate which also led straight onto the road.
Paul Sargeant, 71, said police speed checks might help slow motorists down.
‘It’s a main road and people have to slow down. I think the presence of the police would help. It is a straight stretch of road which comes out of a 25mph speed limit, so that is one of the problems,’ he said (from thisisguernsey)

Its time punitive measures were put in place to curb speeding motor cyclists. They regularly break the island speed limit by 50+ mph. Unfortunately some come to grief, when will they learn?

Road humps are not the solution, speed cameras or police with radar are, they actually reduce the amount of speeders. But when the police start zapping people the forums get loads of complaints about how the police should be out catching criminals, suppose you can't please everyone all the time.
