Nothing is being done to combat vandalism’

Post by GD on Wed 25 Jun 2008, 7:43 pm

POLICE are today investigating a spate of car vandalism that has hit Town. An appeal for witnesses was launched after six vehicles were damaged, five of which had their windscreens smashed. One victim, 35-year-old network engineer Colin Radford, said he felt sure that all the cars had been attacked by the same person or group.

‘If a number of attacks happened at the same time and in a sort of pattern, it must be someone on a spree,’ he said. Mr Radford, whose Seat Arosa was damaged whilst parked at Cambridge Park, said he feels nothing is being done to combat vandalism.

‘I am disgusted that this kind of behaviour is allowed to continue in our society and is just seemingly treated as a part of modern-day life,’ he said. He emailed St Peter Port deputies in September 2006 to express his frustration about regular vandalism of his and his wife’s cars.

But after initial responses from deputies who said they would investigate, he said he has heard nothing more and has seen no changes.

* Inspector Trevor Coleman said an investigation is under way and asked anyone with information to come forward.
