Flood warning for Guernsey's west coast
A flood warning has been put in place for Guernsey's west coast for the high tide at 0840 GMT on Tuesday morning. Guernsey Met said the west south-west winds of force five to seven combined with a tide of 10.1m (33.1ft) could flood low-lying coastal areas. Drivers and pedestrians using coast roads and walkways at that time are advised to take extreme care as conditions are likely to be hazardous. Island Coachways said bus services would be using alternative routes. It said all school buses that travel along the coast would come inland at Pleinmont hill and return to their route at Vazon. It said routes 7, 7A and 5S would also be affected until the roads have been cleared of any debris and are considered safe to use. A tide warning, of waves breaking over the walls, was issued for Monday night. A force four to six westerly wind was predicted to accompany the 9.8m (32.2ft) high tide at 2025 GMT. | |
