Independence from the UK: Chief Minister says Islanders don't want it
Islanders don't want to cut their ties with the Crown according to Guernsey's Chief Minister.
Guernsey politicians have been looking at what might happen if the Channel Islands decided to become independent from the UK.
It's after a report from the States of Jersey on whether independence is possible and how much it would cost.
Chief Minister, Lyndon Trott, says it is important policy makers examine Guernsey's relationship with the mainland.
But he doesn't believe there's much support for severing connections with the UK, saying islanders are proud of their links to the Crown. (from Island FM)

It fills me with fear that we should ever cut our ties with the UK. It will be the end of the Bailiwick and all of the liberties, history and culture that is left. Ask why these men want to break away and ask who will benefit the most……….
Re: Independence from the UK: Chief Minister says Islanders don't want it
But we aren't part of the UK. Therefore we are independent already. The only part of the UK that we have a link with is the crown as The Queen is the Duke Of Normandy due to 1066.
I just wish that someone would tell the Uk government and the EU this fact and leave us to get on with our lives. I think they are jealous as the islands States etc. tend on the whole to work better than their lot and they want to bring us down to their level. Hehe.
