Harbour upgrade to cost millions.

Post by Digger on Sun Jul 13, 2008 7:21 pm

Millions of pounds worth of work is needed to upgrade the harbour in St Peter Port, Guernsey. It is proposed the five cranes which handle freight be replaced with two more modern ones. The harbour handles 98% of the island's imports and exports and parts of the quay need strengthening. The Public Services Department is asking permission to go out to tender for the project and is hoping to pay for it from the Ports Holding Account.

Is this money well spent ?
