Paying drug addicts to be sterilised is exploitative and wrong, say critics of just such a scheme that runs in the US. Jane Beresford talks to the woman behind Project Prevention.

If you call Project Prevention's helpline it's likely that Barbara Harris, the founder of this US based organisation, will answer the phone. A warm and vivacious grandmother, her aim is to give $300 to as many drug and alcohol addicted women as possible.

Natasha Keys, population policy group director, said they were looking beyond the housing control laws, which were not designed to tackle the issue.

Guernsey's last census was in 2001, but a States estimate in 2008 put the population ...

After giving birth to their daughter, his wife produced so much breast milk the pair began to freeze the excess.

This led to Daniel beginning to wonder if he could use the ingredient in his culinary creations (As you do...)

He took his ideas to the kitchen, and has since created his special breast milk cheese.

Police and local councils could also get new powers to force the owners of dangerous dogs to muzzle them or even get them neutered.

Ministers say they are responding to public concern about vicious dogs being used to intimidate or threaten people.

Red wine drinkers gained least weight

Women can enjoy a tipple and stay slim, according to a study that shows moderate drinkers gain less weight than teetotallers.

Women who drank red wine gained the least, but the results held for other wines, beers and spirits.

Although alcohol contains calories, the US researchers believe the women may have substituted it for other food.

Their work in the Archives of Internal Medicine followed over 19,000 women over 13 years.

Just in case I'm not the only "frugal"poster here!I've used a Wave dongle for my computer for the last 3 mnths at a cost of £9.99 a month.I've had no problems and it performs as my Newtel broadband did.So as long as you don't download big files eg films TV shows etc it can be a cheap alternative.Mine is a capped 3 GB but if I go over that then it could be expensive.Suggest you download a broadband monitor to see your usage before you change.
