nothings safe in the £6m budget cut

Post by The Gimp on Sun 21 Feb 2010, 9:35 am

The new boss at Guernsey's Health Department says nothing's being ruled out when it comes to making cuts to save money.

apart from crap paintings and a few pieces of glass..

never mind when ones ill and theres a shortage of staff / equipment / medicine etc, ( you know, the important stuff hospitals should have ) we can always stare at paintings and glass to make us feel better... you never know staring at that thing in the courtyard through the hallway windows might have twice the healing powers..

its a disgrace.as has been suggested before why not tax the rich a little more to pay for proper health care etc.they would still be better off living here than the uk.

im not in favour of taxing the rich more, as an income tax 20% to all is fair, i don't think you should pay more because you work harder and work longer hours...
however the cap should not be removed that CP wants to do..

correct management and running of departments is whats needed, far to much waste going on. I've been involved with housing and the money being wasted there is criminal..

I agree with The gimp's thoughts, it appears that we have too much bureaucracy, viz: far too many civil servants, far too many managers or 'heads of departments' for all areas of the HSSD. The same could be said for other States departments as well.

Oh, and what about the Medical Specialists, how much money are they taking away from us? I do not know as I have no connection with them but people that I have spoken with seem to think that the States are being taken for a ride with that lot! The comparison for services provided for costs per head when the correct ratio is applied against the UK NHS is that we are paying an excessive amount and the surgeons are getting rich from us!

What do you think? Do you know anything about the specialists costs and services?

As "The gimp" says.Far too much administration and unnecessary "objets d'art".The decision makers still don't seem to want to grasp the nettle of reduced States income, whatever the department!
