JEP - Six more questions for the candidates
WE asked the candidates six more questions as follows:
1. Should Jersey unilaterally introduce Central European Time?
2. Do you favour a casino for Jersey?
3. Should food be exempt from GST?
4. Do you aspire to ministerial office? If so, which?
5.Who would you like to see as the new Chief Minister?
6. How much have you spent on your election campaign?

1. No – senseless waste of taxpayers’ money to have referendum that is not even binding.

3. No, provided the additional targeted measures are delivered.
4. Yes. Treasury Minister but whatever role the States wish me to serve.
5. There is only one declared candidate at present. I will wait to see the results of the Senatorial elections.
6. Currently around half the allocated limit. Final figures will not be known until election day but obviously I will conform to the new law.

4. Yes. Education. However, I don’t agree with ministerial government, as I believe it is another form of dictatorship.

6. I decided to treat the campaign professionally and will have spent just under £8,000.

1. An utterly banal question. This is a dry run for unilateral independence from Britain.
2. This is not an important issue.
3. First of all there should be no GST. Of course food should be exempt.
4. First we create an opposition, then we form a government.

2. Yes. State-owned, privately run.

4. Maybe, would consider situation, possibly Environment.
5. It won’t be clear till after the election who will be available.
6. Less than £500, which was donated or sponsored. An ordinary person should be able
to stand against those with huge incomes.

5. Almost anyone other than the person the Council of Ministers have already lined up for the job.

there is so much online gambling available I don’t see it would affect things much. That still doesn’t help with the problem of gambling.
