Social workers to be placed in every secondary school

Post by GD on Mon 21 Apr 2008, 7:01 pm

SOCIAL workers are to be placed in all secondary schools by the end of the year.

Phil Dennet, the co-ordinator of the Children's Executive, said that they were hoping to introduce social workers to work alongside counsellors in order to provide a quicker response for child protection issues in schools.

Currently there is only one secondary school in the Island that employs a full-time social worker who supports young school children who may be experiencing difficulties.

A excellent idea, if it will help protect the children against abuse
