The latest plans for a £40m development of one of Guernsey's secondary schools have been released.

The Education Department is submitting an application for the redevelopment of Les Beaucamps school.

Education Minister Carol Steere said sufficient funds were in place to complete the early planning stages.

She said her board would fight hard to ensure the replacement of the buildings went ahead despite the global financial crisis (from BBC News)

Education is the life blood of any society and in order that the teaching experience can have maximum impact suitable facilities need to be developed. Why should pupils in the 21st century here in gsy be taught lessons in appalling conditions when just across in the other parish a brand spanking new school is fully operational with all of the mod cons. I disagree that the final cost will be £100 mill because lessons hopefully have been learnt. If the plans go ahead then one hopes the money will be available so other services do not suffer.
