Guernsey Post offers staff voluntary redundancy

Guernsey's postal workers are being asked whether they would be willing to take voluntary redundancy as the company tries to cut running costs.
Initially, Guernsey Post is looking to find between 10 and 15 people who are willing to take up the offer.
The company said no firm decisions had been made, but it was likely some voluntary redundancy opportunities would be available this year.
The offer is not open to postal delivery workers, it said.
'Reduce waste'
The move comes as the firm carries out a review of its costs and structure in the management, retail and administration areas aimed at ensuring it is properly equipped to deal with changes in the postal market.
Its monopoly on parcels has been removed, while its monopoly on letters was reduced from £1.35 to £1.
Chief executive Gordon Steele said the firm was on an economic and efficiency drive.
He said: "It means new ways of working, new systems, new ways of delivering the mail, more efficient use of the resources we've got, more efficient use of the buildings and vans that we've got.
"It means simple things like reducing our electricity consumption, the amount of waste we produce... we're very focussed on how much we consume and how much waste we produce." (from BBC)
