Free chatter saves £500,000

Post by GD on Thu 03 Jul 2008, 1:29 pm

States departments calling each other in Jersey used to rack up phone bills of around half a million pounds a year.

But now all States buildings are being switched to internet telephony (VOIP) which mean department to department calls are free.

The General Hospital is the latest building to be equipped with the new technology. Callers may need to be patient in the first few days while staff get used to a new system. Emergency calls are unaffected by this change. (from CIonline)

Great Idea hope that our Guernsey States Departments follow this up..

The One and Only....
