Poilce warn Islanders of 'Debt Collection Agency' con

Post by GD on Tue 20 May 2008, 8:43 pm

Police are warning islanders of a con by a company posing as a debt
collection agency.

Officers say local residents are being targeted by the scam.

A company called First Direct Logistics Limited are sending cards to
islanders by Guernsey Post, claiming first direct have a package for them and
asking them to ring an '0800' phone number.

Callers will likely find themselves left hanging on the line for a
considerable time, then when they finally get through to an operator, they're
asked for personal contact details.

According to Guernsey Police, research has shown a considerable amount of UK
residents have had an 'unpleasant experience' with the company.
